Momentum Texas

Academic/ Career Development

Momentum students are offered academic support and guidance as they navigate the world of higher education. Each student is given The Greenwood System Assessment to determine personal values, interests, and motivations regarding a future career, and the Momentum team will help students understand their results and formulate a career plan. Students participate in the Dave Ramsey Foundations curriculum as they learn the importance of personal finance, paired with real world application through outings in the community.

Each Momentum student follows an individual plan designed specifically to ensure future success progressing through college courses, continuing education opportunities, or joining the workforce. The Momentum team offers one-on-one assistance with each student in creating or editing personal resumes, initiating job searches to navigate part-time and full-time work, and completing appropriate job applications.

We’re proud to highlight our partnership with the Texas Workforce Commission. Every Friday from 11am-1pm, a TWC representative will work closely with you individually and as a group to build the skills necessary to successfully navigate part-time or full-time work, and assist with long-term career planning. They will even aid in securing appropriate internships and employment options based on ability and interest.

If part-time work is unreasonable for a particular student, the student is assisted with exploring various volunteer opportunities that align with their interests and hobbies. Momentum also offers reasonable transportation to and from job fairs, college advising appointments and other applicable events to help ease the parents’ burden in facilitating the student’s transition into adulthood.
